There IS a Silver Bullet!
Wake up my friend. Wake up.
When you realize we are interdependent, your whole perspective and focus changes.
A quick Google search shows:
Meaning and Examples
- Definition: A state where two or more people, groups, or things rely on one another and are mutually connected.
- People: Family members rely on each other for emotional and financial care.
- Work: Coworkers use different skills together to finish a shared project.
- Nature: Ecosystems feature plants and animals that need each other to survive.
- Global Trade: Countries buy and sell goods from one another because no single nation makes everything it needs.
Versus Codependent
- Interdependent: Healthy balance of mutual support while keeping personal freedom and boundaries.
- Codependent: Unhealthy reliance where one person loses their own identity to take care of or control another person.
You need to change your focus. If you don’t, you will suffer.
You’re not married to your parents, your siblings, your bullies, or the person or people who hurt or neglected you growing up.
As a child, you marinated in an environment you had no control over, and you’ve spent your adult life in the same mindset. Probably worse, actually. Add resentment, fear, and possibly despair into the mix.
You were adaptable as a child (you survived); you can adapt as an adult. We can learn new shit. YOU can learn new shit.
Where are you stuck? How do you get unstuck?
You find a guide and marinate in a more useful environment. You DO different shit.
YOU choose to change your environment. As a child, you had no choice. You do now. You have choice, but may not see that yet.
I’m talking about agency.
- Can you learn how to change a tire on a bicycle?
- Can you learn how to, I don’t know, knead dough for baking bread?
Of course you fucking can.
Will change be easy and fun?
No. Probably not. Not in the beginning anyway.
Is it necessary?
Your call. Live in pain and discomfort forever, or learn something new and finally find joy and satisfaction.
“Oh, but David, you don't understand my problem(s).”
Maybe I do, maybe I don't. It doesn't matter. DO different stuff to get different data. You need the data. You'll work through hard stuff if you determine it's worthwhile on the other side. But you need to find a useful guide to ... ummm ... guide you usefully.
It’s time to learn something new. Stop fucking about with your life, your partner’s life, and get on task.
It’s not all about you (even if your mind-body is telling you it is).
